SNL Slammed After Announcing Dave Chappelle As Upcoming Host, Twitter Reacts

Saturday Night Live (SNL) was slammed after announcing Dave Chappelle as the upcoming host, and fans reacted on Twitter.

On Nov. 5, SNL announced Dave Chappelle as one of its upcoming hosts via Twitter. The legendary comedian will reportedly host the show on Nov. 12.

“Next week’s show! Dave Chapelle, Black Star,” the comedy sketch show’s social media team tweeted.

However, SNL fans didn’t share the same excitement, as the network came under fire for choosing Chappelle.

“Damn…Really shocked and disappointed by this. You guys are better than this, so be better. Do better,” @Abby Jurgens tweeted.

“Wakanda Forever is coming out next week, and you couldn’t get anyone to host from that movie instead?!” @pbandjcomedy wrote.

In response, Chappelle fans came to his defense and shared their enthusiasm over his upcoming appearance. Some even made it their duty to declare that he could never be “canceled.”

“Hey, Twitter, Dave Chappelle is under attack again. This man is definitely one of the greatest that has ever done it,” @wilmrbadguy insisted. In the post, he even tagged Twitter’s new CEO, Elon Musk. “I stand with DAVE CHAPPELLE. SNL do not CANCEL him as the HOST. Share this Post~Wilmrbadguy #Istandwithdave #snl #CANCELCULTUREMUSTDIE.”

“Y’all need to cut that sweet sh*t out, we not canceling dave Chappelle n***a,” @3200Miya wrote.

In September, Chappelle and fellow award-winning comedian Chris Rock went off on award-winning rapper and actor Will Smith during comedy sets in the United Kingdom. They had done so in response to Smith slapping Rock silly on stage during the Oscar Awards in March.

“A lot of people forget who Will Smith is,” he hilariously said

, referencing the entertainer’s Philly roots. “Then, 10 minutes before he was about to get the biggest award…he acted like he was back in Philadelphia. Will did the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped his mask off and showed us he was as ugly as the rest of us.”
