Singer and rapper Rye Rye slammed Drake on Friday, Oct. 6, for sampling her vocals from “Shake It To The Ground” with DJ Blaqstarr on the “For All the Dogs” feature without crediting her.
Rye Rye went to Twitter and Instagram with a clip of Drake’s “Calling For You” on his latest album, “For All the Dogs,” featuring 21 Savage.
“Really, @Drake. My vocals again? [And] No Credit? I really wanna be flattered, but I feel like it’s trolling ATP OMG…one of my fave artists doing this. I don’t know how to feel anymore. But thank you for reminding me that my 15-year-old vocals are still legendary,” Rye Rye wrote in an X post.

Prior to Drake using Rye Rye’s vocals in the aforementioned track, he included her sample on “Curents,” featured on his 2022 “Honestly, Nevermind” album.Â
“I’m happy, too, but also I feel played with…me and @blaqstarr FR should be getting our credit, but this also lets me know I’m legendary, lol. Thank you, but stop taking advantage of Black women dawg,” she stated on Instagram.

The 32-year-old received support from others demanding her credit and hate from those who didn’t understand the big deal when he only included Rye’s “What” from “Shake It To The Ground.” Others claimed that Rye should’ve projected her frustration on the producers, not Drake.
She’s opening for a producer KNOWN for stealing from people of color and women. You deserve to never get credit đ https://t.co/Z7QVLVboka

It’s one thing when non-Black folx take from the Jersey club sound and refuse to give credit where it is due. It’s another thing when someone within our own community does it and steals VOCALS on top of that. Put some respect on Rye Rye’s name by crediting and paying her. https://t.co/VQ9Jip18Qk

Rye Rye schooled haters, arguing she understood the producers played a significant role in it, but after the last time he sampled and didn’t credit her, he should’ve learned from that lesson.
“All that coverage from last time, Drake had to see it and his team…his team definitely knows it, ain’t no excuses like WTF…ultimately, it’s the producers, but it’s up to the labels and artists to clear it up,” she wrote on IG.

The “Bang” songstress went further, providing receipts on how Drake and his team credited her and DJ Blaqstarr as sampled artists on “Currents,” but included labeled hip-hop group Trillville (members Donnelle “Don P” Prince, “Jamal “Dirty Mouth” Glaze and Lawrence “Lil LA” Edwards) as sampled artists and songwriters.
“On Apple Music, me [and] my producer listed as sampled artists on the first one ‘Currents’..w/ Trillville, but you see how they all got writing credits for the chair squeak..oh ok,” she said on X, with a video of her scrolling through “Currents” credited writers and artists.
To all you ppl that was like drake/team prob didnât know it was a sample this time on âcalling for youâ ..on Apple Music me & my producer listed as sampled artists on the first one currents..w/ trillville but you see how they all got writing credits for the chair squeak..oh ok đ pic.twitter.com/XbnUgEGj9m
