The list of Bill Cosby’s sexual assault victims has extended after singer Morganne Picard sued the actor on sexual assault charges in New York on Friday, Fox News reported.

In addition to Cosby, Picard added NBC Universal Media, Kaufman Astoria Studios and the Carsey-Werner Company to the lawsuit.

Picard claimed in her lawsuit that she met Cosby in 1987 when he invited her to The Cosby Show set. She said that after she became close to him and his wife, Camille, he abused his “power, fame and prestige.” She reportedly remembers him encouraging her to consume alcohol to where she’d black out on “multiple occasions.”

On one occasion, she recalled, he invited her to drink at his home, only for her to wake up in a “hotel room, naked, with soreness.”

Picar alleged in her lawsuit that NBC Universal Media, Kaufman Astoria Studios and the Carsey-Werner Company all “enabled” The Cosby Show star to continue his sexual abuse to continue the flow of money they received from the actor.

In a statement to Fox, Picar’s lawyer stated they were ready to obtain the justice Picar and Cosby’s other alleged victims deserved.

“Today was the first step towards obtaining some measure of justice for Ms. Picard,” the lawyer said. “We want to thank New York State for passing the Adult Survivors Act, which allows Ms. Picard and other people who were sexually abused as adults to bring a civil lawsuit until November 23, 2023, regardless of when the abuse occurred. We look forward to holding Mr. Cosby and his enablers responsible for their actions.”

Cosby’s lawyer, Andrew Wyatt of the Merson Law firm, denied Picar’s allegations.

“It is disappointing to see that these alleged distractors are able to monetize false allegations against Mr. Cosby. The Merson Law Firm, along with these alleged distractors, are fueling false narratives for the potential of media fame and greed,” Wyatt said. 

“Mr. Cosby continues to invoke his Constitutional Rights by saying, ‘Not Guilty’ and vehemently denying all of these alleged allegations waged against him,” Wyatt concluded.

While the sexual assault allegations around Cosby peaked during the #metoo movement, since 2004-2005, women have told stories of how they were reportedly assaulted or drugged by “America’s dad.” It started with Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee who told her mom, which led to filing a police report. 

The investigation went public, and a woman named Tamara Green came forward. Despite their failed attempts in the court, that didn’t stop multiple women from coming forward, including Dickenson, who told Howard Stern in an interview that he was a “bad guy” who preyed on women.

In 2006, Constand received a settlement of $3 million. Between 2014 and 2015, more women came forward, leading to a trial. In 2018, Cosby was found guilty and convicted on three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and molesting Constand. He was sentenced to three to 10 years. 

On June 30, 2021, the Supreme Court overturned Cosby’s conviction, and he got released from prison.
