Singer Chloe Bailey Prioritizes Mental Health, Says Goodbye To Twitter

Chloe Bailey, one-half of the Grammy-nominated sister duo Chloe X Halle, recently made headlines after announcing that she had deleted her Twitter account due to the negative impact of online hate.

In a recent interview with ET Canada, the 24-year-old singer revealed that she was no longer active on the social media platform and explained why she made the decision to leave.

“I love all social media, and I love Twitter as well, but that’s where you can see all the negative things about you directly in your face,” she shared. “If I see my name trending, I’d click it and see a whole plethora of negative tweets about myself. I don’t need to do that to myself.”

Bailey is no stranger to receiving backlash from fans and critics alike. She has been criticized for being “too sexy” and is often unfavorably compared to her sister, Halle. The negative comments reached a breaking point for Bailey, who admitted that she began changing herself based on what she believed people’s opinions were of her.

“I feel that when you continue to be fed the same thing, you’ll start to believe it. And I started changing myself based off what I thought people’s opinions were of me. And that’s not okay,” she shared.

The star’s recent appearance on Donald Glover’s series Swarm also drew criticism from social media commenters. Bailey played the character Marissa Jackson and had a steamy sex scene with Damson Idris that trended online. Despite the backlash, Bailey is proud of her performance and is able to laugh off some of the negative comments.

While she has deleted her Twitter account, Bailey still engages with her fans on other social media platforms. She still uses Instagram actively and loves interacting with fans on Discord.

“So, I’m still actively, all the time, on Instagram. And Discord. I still love communicating with the fans, so I talk to them a lot in our chats on Discord. That’s the little nerd in me. I love Discord. I like Discord a lot.”

As Bailey continues to share her talents with the world, we can only hope that she remains true to herself and continues to prioritize her well-being above all else.
