This is the year for singer Ashanti, who celebrated her 42nd birthday all week and shared photos with her Instagram followers, showing an example of what being single, childless, and unbothered looked like.

On Friday, the singer looked dazzling on a beach wearing a seashell bikini, flaunting her amazing body with abs. With a half-up half-down hairdo, the “Foolish” singer wore a bunch of bracelets on both arms, golden hoop earrings, and sunglasses.

“Genuinely overwhelmed by the outpouring of birthday love… this has been an incredible year filled with peaks and valleys,” she wrote in the caption. “I must say my heart was pierced quite a few times.. but it healed and was filled with love again… I was able to celebrate the 20th anniversary of my first album “Ashanti” and in the same week receive a star on the Hollywood walk of fame.. released my first children’s book “My name is a story” did a UK tour and shot two movies. I am beyond grateful as I continue to thrive and unfold my journey. As I sit on this island reflecting on life surrounded by family and friends I am truly grateful to God for another year. Thank you all so so much for your love and birthday wishes I appreciate you deep. Love y’all!!!!!”

The R&B star began her birthday celebration on Oct. 12, posting a photo of her on a private jet with a banner that read, “Let’s Party B***hes.”

The day after Ashanti’s birthday, on Oct. 13, the video for the “Gotta Move On” remix with Sean “Diddy” Combs, Bryson Tiller, Yung Miami and Ashanti was released.

Many fans speculated that Ashanti’s verse responded to her alleged former fling and executive producer Irv Gotti, who couldn’t stop bumping his gums about sleeping with the R&B crooner in the early 2000s.

“It’s giving obsessed it’s giving you stressed it’s giving you pressed it’s giving this n***a missing the best,” she sang in the song.
