Sinbad’s Road To Recovery Has Been Long And Hard Nearly Two Years After His Near-Fatal Stroke

Veteran comedian Sinbad is reportedly still recovering from the stroke he suffered two years ago.

His family posted an update to the entertainer’s Instagram account on Monday.

Sinbad appreciates all the love and support you have shown him over the last two years. Many of you have asked for updates and if there is anything Sinbad needs or what you can do to help. As a result, the family has created a site where you can keep up to date with his progress and also provide an avenue for those who wish to give. Follow the link in bio.”

“Stay funky, stay blessed,” the post concluded.

The 66-year-old actor and comedian could be seen attempting to get around with a walker with the assistance of a nurse. The post also allowed fans to offer encouragement and financial support to Sinbad.

On The Journey Forward website, Sinbad openly wrote about his near-fatal stroke in October 2020.

“On October 25, 2020, Sinbad suffered an ischemic stroke as a result of a blood clot that traveled from his heart to his brain. He was rushed into surgery at West Hills Medical Center that night, where the doctor’s performed a thrombectomy to remove the clot and restore normal blood flow to the brain. After surgery, Sinbad was talking and moving with some weakness, but the prognosis was very promising. The next day, however, another blood clot formed, half the size of the first. He underwent the same surgery again successfully, but it took a little more from him than the first surgery. He was transferred to Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where the doctors indicated that his brain had begun to swell. They performed a craniotomy to relieve the pressure and reduce the swelling. During surgery, however, the doctors discovered a bleed. It was hours before the family learned Sinbad had returned to the Neuro-ICU in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator. Our hearts were devastated. The road to recovery became unclear and extremely difficult for the family to navigate.”

He finally returned home after nine months in July 2021– to recover from his stroke. The website stated that the survival rate for these types of strokes is  30%. The family also listed the trust that assisted with his care.

“All gifts will go to the Adkins Trust to help provide for Sinbad’s care and help him continue to fight this battle.”

Fans offered words of encouragement.

Comedians & actors alike will be unpacking your genius for years to come, and that’s just the stuff you’ve already done. Get better, work the program, prove that you ain’t done. We’ll be right there cheering and, of course, CRACKING UP! 🤪”
