Shock G’ s Funeral Set for Saturday

Shock G’s funeral is set for Saturday in Tampa, TMZ reported.

Gregory Jacobs, otherwise known as Digital Underground frontman Shock G, was found dead in a Tampa, Fla. hotel room on April 22. The cause of death is still unknown. Shock G was just 57-years-old.

Jacobs rose to international fame with the hip-hop group Digital Underground in 1989 with their Billboard hit “The Humpty Dance.”

Shock G was also a successful producer, having co-produced Tupac Shakur’s album “2Pacalypse Now.” Jacobs also produced Shakur’s single “I Get Around.”

Shakur died in 1996. A 2017 video of Jacobs speaking about Shakur’s death at the premiere of All Eyez on Me went viral on Twitter. Shock said that he warned Shakur to lay low.

“I pulled Pac out of the party and I said ‘yo, they got two more hits on you, they already had two in Oakland, now they got two in L.A. Four people are paid to kill you,” said Jacobs. He added that offered him the key to his condo while he went on tour.

“You know what Pac told me? He said ‘You finished? You don’t get it, do you? I don’t give a f**k.’ And walked away. And before he got out of sight, he looked back one last time.”

“He was ready, he knew he was done here. On to his next planet, on to his next adventure, maybe he was reincarnated on Earth, who knows? But, Pac wasn’t worried about death. He was not scared of death. Neither am I. I might go tonight, I might go tomorrow, I might live another 20 years. God don’t bless me. But who knows? But Pac wasn’t afraid of death, man. None of us should be. Stand for something, die for nothing. Stand for something better than dying for nothing. Amen.”

Shock G was a legend who we will miss dearly, and I’m sure folks will pay tribute by doin’ the Humpty-hump for many years after his home-going.
