Shaunie O’Neal is a married woman — again! According to People Magazine, the Basketball Wives star tied the knot with her fiancé, Keion Henderson, in an eastern Caribbean ceremony on Saturday.
While the couple initially had 50 guests on their list, nearly 200 attended the Anguilla wedding held at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club. O’Neal was accompanied by her three sons, who walked her down the aisle of the golf course as gospel singer Yolanda Adams performed.
“I just lost my dad in February,” O’Neal told the outlet. “So, I really struggled with how I was going to get down the aisle. Losing my dad in the midst of planning this wedding was a lot, so my sons handed me off.”
The 47-year-old explained how important it was to have her five children, Myles, 25, Shareef, 22, Shaqir, 19, Amirah, 20, and Me’arah, 16, whom she shares with ex-husband Shaquille O’Neal, to support her during one of the most intimate moments in her life.
O’Neal wore a shimmering gown and veil by Jean Louis Sabajai with David Yurman jewelry and paired the ensemble with Jimmy Choo shoes. Henderson, 41, wore a cream Dolce and Gabbana tuxedo.
Bishop T.D. Jakes officiated the nuptials as the couple exchanged wedding bands by Jason of Beverly Hills.
Choosing the perfect wedding location can be a tiring process for some couples. However, the newlyweds said they “immediately fell in love with it” on a past trip to the British territory.
“I think after that first visit, we knew this was the place we wanted to get married,” O’Neal told People Magazine. Meanwhile, Henderson was enthralled by Anguilla’s welcoming residents, making them “proud to connect to” the island and “start their journey” there.
The guests enjoyed traditional island dishes during the reception and danced to musical performances by the Isley Brothers and Jukebox in a custom tent at the resort’s clubhouse.
“We wanted our guests to have a weekend of enjoyment,” O’Neal said. “We just like to have fun and love on each other, and we wanted to do that with our friends and family.”
The couple dated for two years before announcing their engagement in November, Sis2Sis reported.
Earlier this month, the reality star sat down with The Shade Room and talked about her relationship with Henderson.
“Love feels easy,” the O’Neal said. “I think that he makes it easy to love him, to love this relationship, and I think the older you get, you just realize what’s important, you realize how to communicate with people, you realize how to overcome obstacles in relationships.”
