Shaunie Henderson, formerly O’Neal, treated her new husband, Pastor Keion Henderson, to a month-long trip that was an all-in-one honeymoon and birthday trip.
According to PEOPLE Magazine, Shaunie wanted to celebrate her husband’s July 6 birthday with a European yacht excursion that took them to Monaco, Italy and France.
“I was able to get in there and plan an entire honeymoon and birthday for him behind his back,” the 47-year-old boss told the publication. “It was something that I knew he hadn’t done before. He absolutely loves the water. So I said, ‘Let’s just go all out.’”
Because of Keion’s religious obligation to his parishioners at The Lighthouse Church & Ministries in Houston, Texas, Shaunie had to plan the month-long European yacht trip meticulously.
The pastor appreciated his bride’s grand and kind gesture.
“We went seven [or] eight places,” he expressed. “I’ve never met kinder individuals.”
“It was just amazing. And then just to relax and not have to be on and just enjoy the scenery,” Shaunie said. “I was excited about the food. We’re on this beautiful yacht that has a personal chef. They pretty much make whatever we want, but I was more excited to get off of the yacht and venture out in every stop and get to chase their food and go to the different restaurants that are famous in that space. I think I’d have to say my favorite restaurant was Chez Black. I know that’s probably a lot of people’s favorite, but it was the atmosphere.”
Keion revealed that his favorite place on the excursion was Capri.
“My favorite place might have been Capri because we went to both sides. I went to the calm side where they did all the water sports, and we saw the caves. Then we go to the other side with the fabulous shopping and the fabulous restaurants and the busyness of the island.”
The beaming newlywed also stated that doing something for a husband who humbly serves his church was an amazing feeling.
“My favorite thing about the honeymoon is knowing that Keion, his life is — He lives in a place of servitude, and the honeymoon and birthday trip served him. So that was my favorite thing about it.”
On May 28, the couple wed in an extravagant ceremony in Anguilla. The wedding, held at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club, had 200 attendees.
Three of Shaunie’s sons walked her down the aisle. Her father passed away in February. She expressed what her special day was like knowing her dad wasn’t there.
“I just lost my dad in February. So, I really struggled with how I was going to get down the aisle. Losing my dad in the midst of planning this wedding was a lot, so my sons handed me off.”
The couple dated for two years before finally tying the knot. They were engaged in November.
