Richardson outperformed her fellow American competitors in her sprint at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani Nairobi, finishing the 200m with an impressive record meet time of 22.07 seconds. The 27-year-old obtained a massive lead even before the final straight away. It took time to celebrate before crossing the finish line with a margin of 0.70 and 0.75 ahead of Kyra Jefferson and Shannon Ray, respectively.
The Texas native was motivated in her race after winning the opening Doha 100m Diamond League event a little over a week ago. Before that, in her first 200m of this season, Richardson lost in the Botswana race and told reporters that she had a stronger drive to win after.

“I got kicked out of the 100 in Botswana and also here in Kenya. I knew I had to do my best with the performance that I was allowed to run in. Despite what others may have gone on social media and said, no one asked me to run the 100. Therefore, I know I needed to do what I know to do about 200, and I’m blessed for it.”
Richardson has received an outpouring of support on social media following her wins.
Y’all didn’t even want her in the 100.
Keep that same energyWAY TO GO CARRI!!
