Serena Williams’ daughter Olympia channeled the tennis icon by wearing her signature beaded hairstyle during an outing at Disneyland last week.
A photo of the four-year-old was posted to her Instagram account on April 20, capturing the adorable moment at the amusement park. Olympia posed with one hand over her heart in the snapshot while standing in front of Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. The four-year-old met what appeared to be one of her favorite Disney characters and even dressed just like her for the joyous occasion.

Williams’ daughter wore braids parted down on each side of her head while donning pink, blue, and yellow beads on her hair. Williams, 40, and Venus, 41, were best known for their beaded hairstyles as they competed on the tennis court in the early 2000s.
Fans and followers shared their thoughts on Olympia’s hairstyle as she shared a moment with a princess that looked just like her.
One user said, “She’s like I’m the real princess here 😂❤️ so precious.”
“Representation Matters 😍😍😍,” said another user.
A third user said, “2 black queens with a flawless melanin🔥🔥.”
The Williams sisters’ iconic hairstyle was included in the Oscar award-winning film King Richard, which chronicled their childhood as they rose to fame in the athletic world. Carla Farmer, the lead hairstylist on set, told Allure how she was able to recreate the look in the film.
“What I don’t like is seeing braided wigs on television — they kind of irritate me,” Farmer explained. “But when you shoot a movie, you can’t necessarily put so many beads on the actor’s hair every day. I had to find a way to make it look like it was their hair, so I decided to do a half wig for the look.
She continued, “We didn’t count all the beads we used for the wigs, but there were way over 200 for each one. We used a wire hook to put the beads on in the front, hooking on maybe two to three at a time.”
Keep shining, Olympia!
