The season two trailer of the hit Amazon series Harlem, starring Meagan Good, finally dropped via Prime Video on Jan. 5.
According to a recent press release, the show’s second season will consist of eight episodes, with two episodes premiering every week starting Feb. 3. It will air in over 240 countries and territories across the globe.
Harlem Season Two follows its main character, Camille, played by Meagan Good, as she figures out how to “put the pieces back together” after screwing up her career and destroying her love life. It also follows Tye (Jerrie Johnson), who contemplates her future, Angie (Shoniqua Shandai), whose career takes a good turn, and (Grace Byers) who goes on a self-discovery journey.
“Everything was like divine because I went in, I met on it, I didn’t hear anything, and I heard they were auditioning, and I was like, ‘Can I please audition?’”
Sis2Sis reported about Meagan initially snagging her latest role in 2022.
“Then, I think, initially, they weren’t sure if I was the person. So, it’s nice to even, 30 years into the industry, to show someone like, no, I can do something else.”
Her character, an adjunct professor at Columbia University, is “so quirky, so off-beat, she’s so much closer to who I am,” before adding that she’s “a dork.”
“Y’all know I’m a dork!” Meagan explained.
Harlem Season Two is produced by Amazon Studios and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group in association with Paper Kite Productions. In April, the series’ writer, creator, and executive producer, Tracy Oliver—writer of the hit all-Black girl movie Girls Trip (2017), opened up about her successful project.
“I was kind of stunned that there wasn’t a show centered on black female friendship,” Tracy shared. “When I was living in New York, it was a lot more black, and brown than shows like Sex and the City or Friends present New York as. I love those shows, they’re iconic and fantastic, but you want to see women that look like you.”
