Safaree Praises Lil Mama For Being A ‘Legend’: Don’t Undermine Or Forget What An Amazing Talent She Is’

Safaree is giving Lil Mama her flowers after the two attended dancehall artist Spice’s event in Atlanta last week.

The Love & Hip Hop star performed on stage alongside Lil Mama and Karli Redd as a Grammy nomination tribute to the “Send It Up” artist. Lil Mama wore a custom blue leopard-print three-piece outfit with white closed-toe heels and blue hair with two puffs on each side of her head.

On Saturday, the 40-year-old took to Twitter and acknowledged the Brooklyn native and her musical talent.

“Lil mama is a legend. Don’t undermine or forget what an amazing talent she is and what she’s done💪🏾,” he tweeted.

Twitter users had their own opinions after Safaree called the “Lip Gloss” rapper a “legend.”

One user tweeted: “She’s definitely not a legend but she’s cool fr freestyles be lit but thats about it Legends are Lauryn Hill, Missy, Nicki, Lil Kim, Queen Latifah, Salt Pepper, MC Lyte etc.”

“You lost me with the legend part😂 What makes her legend again,” a second user tweeted.

“But he got yall talking ah..She is a good artist. That incident with Jay and Alicia was so long ago. Most don’t remember it until they bring it up,” a third user tweeted.

One user disagreed with Safaree’s statement since the 32-year-old has not been in the music industry long enough to be crowned a legend.

“Agreed!! She haven’t been in long enough to be a LEGEND!! She’s no Salt N Pepa…Queen Latifah…MC Lyte. Naw Safaree you need to do some research Playa! No disrespect but she ain’t that!”

Lil Mama, born Niatia Jessica Kirkland, was 17 years old when she released her first and only album “Voice Of The Young People” in 2008. The album reached number 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts with singles including “Shawty Get Loose,” “G-Slide (Tour Bus),” and the popular hit “Lip Gloss.”

Years later, she transitioned into acting with her portrayal of the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in the 2013 VH1 biopic CrazySexyCool based on the ’90s girl group TLC. Lil Mama has also been spotted on tv shows such as America’s Next Top Model  and The Reel.
