R&B singer Jesse Powell passed away “peacefully” in his Los Angeles home on Tuesday night– the day after his birthday. He was 51 years old.
Jesse’s sister, Tamara, shared the news on Instagram. She wrote,
RIP Brother. 🕊 #JessePowell 💔”
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and uncle Jesse Powell. The family asks for privacy at this time as we mourn this tremendous loss and celebrate his everlasting legacy.
“He passed away peacefully in his Los Angeles home,” Tamara wrote.
“Jesse loved music, and he especially loved his fans who supported him throughout his career,” the post continued. “We want you all to know that you meant the world to him.”

Singer Cheryl Pepsii Riley left her condolences on the post.

Tamara posted another video of the 51-year-old Gary, Indiana, native performing his hit 1998 single “You.”
“That voice! Aside from being one of the best R&B male vocalists out there, you were the best big brother ever. I loved you so much. 🥺 I’m thankful that we were so close; a whole mess all the time. 😅🍃💨We absolutely adored you, ‘Jet’ & our family will not be the same without you.”

According to All Music, Jesse had four studio albums and came from a family of singers.
No cause of death has been determined.
