Actress and former View host Raven-Symone claimed that at one time, she broke up with her wife Miranda Maday because she was afraid that the Black community would criticize her for being in an interracial relationship.
Last year, Raven-Symone married her girlfriend Miranda Maday and announced their nuptials on Instagram. It was a relative shock because she had not been vocal about whether she is a lesbian or that she was involved with anyone.
She sat down with Noir Online to do an Instagram TV interview. She revealed that she parted ways with Maday early on in their relationship because she struggled with the “Black community being mad” at her for dating a white person.

“Like I just thought people were staring at me all the time, and it just felt weird, but then again, it wasn’t really happening,” said Symone.
Maday said she did not know that Symone was feeling that way because she was not the best communicator.
“I only found that out in our reconnection, which was like years late obviously, and I was really surprised, and it made me feel really sad that she didn’t feel comfortable enough at the time to communicate that to me…,” said Maday.
It seems odd. There are plenty of Black people who are in interracial relationships. Further, it is interesting that Raven-Symone was concerned about Black backlash. She has a history of subscribing to white supremacist thoughts, so it would make more sense for her not to care what Black people thought at all.
Nonetheless, Symone’s motivations for marrying Maday are her own. She has said that her wife inspired her to go on a weight loss journey and lose 30 pounds. The couple is also planning for a family of six.
Black people want other Black people to be happy, and it appears that Raven-Symone is. We wish her and her wife well.
