Rappers Andre Reed and Reginald Miles, Who Performed As Jim Jones’ Opening Act, Charged With Murder

Investigators believe Reginald Miles and Andre Reed committed a murder right after opening for rapper Jim Jones last month.

The pair performed at Off the Hook Lounge in Waterbury on July 24 as an opening act for Jones, according to court documents obtained by The Hartford Courant. Shortly after the show, a drive-by shooting occurred, and three people were hit.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found 37-year-old Douglas Daniels, shot in the chest and shoulder. He was later transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Another person was also hit in the chest and shoulder while an additional victim was struck in the leg. Both survived

their injuries, according to Fox 61.

Eyewitnesses told the police they saw an SUV speed away from the scene, and the vehicle was later recovered at the hospital, per an arrest affidavit. Investigators later learned a fourth person had been shot in the head, but the injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Two of the injured victims told police they saw a man in a red mask shooting at people and recalled one of the performers wearing a similar mask. Daniels’ son, who also attended the show, confirmed a man in a red mask performed but claimed there were “no problems” during the show.

After reviewing social media videos and surveillance camera footage, investigators determined Miles was the man in the mask. The evidence also placed Reed and Miles in the SUV at the time of the incident. It reportedly belonged to Miles’ girlfriend.

An unidentified man, who was in the backseat of the SUV with Miles, named him as the shooter. Reed was driving the vehicle and reportedly pointed the victims out, per a sworn statement from the witness.

Reed was arrested on August 10, and Miles was caught nine days later, reported The Courant. They were charged with murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit murder. Miles received six additional firearm charges and one count of reckless endangerment.

Both are jailed and scheduled to appear in court.

Miles is jailed under a $3 million bond and will appear in court next Wednesday.  Reed received a $2 million bond and won’t see a judge until October 13.

Jones has not spoken about Miles and Reed.
