Young M.A. announced that she was checking herself into rehab for addiction recently, according to MadameNoire. The rapper made the announcement on Instagram before deleting the post. She also posted a statement on Twitter about healing on June 22.
“Bouta lose this addiction…omw to rehab,” she wrote.
The news surprised some fans who were under the impression that Young M.A. didn’t abuse drugs and alcohol. The Jasmine Brand reported that she once called out her fans on Instagram live after one glamorized drug abuse.
“Yo, y’all be sayin’ some crazy sh*t. Don’t say no sh*t like that on my Live, bro. Talkin’ ’bout sniffing coke off- what is this? Somebody said, ‘Sniffin’ glue- sniff coke off your strap.’ Y’all crazy, bro? For real? Like, come on son. Don’t talk like that, bro, on my Live, man. I don’t got people like that. You know what I’m sayin’? That coke sh*t? I don’t do that. I don’t pop no pills, I don’t sniff no coke, nothing, bro. The most I do- I drink and smoke some weed. Y’all n*ggas wildin’ with that sh*t. That sh*t ain’t even cute. For real. I need my supporters to understand that, bro. I don’t rock with that. That poppin’ perc, poppin’ mollies, poppin’ xans and sh*t like that? That sh*t ain’t cute, bro. I don’t do that! Sniff coke- none of that sh*t. I don’t do that. That sh*t is not cute, bro. I feel like a b*tch shouldn’t do it, too. Any b*tch that do that, that b*tch is a turn-off.”
The Brooklyn native didn’t say why she was checking into rehab, but she has not been shy about her taste for Hennessy, marijuana and liquor. The 29-year-old often includes her love for Hennessy in her songs. Her Twitter post referenced a cure for her suffering and trust in God.
“Loving God, I pray that you will comfort me in my suffering, lend skill to the hands of my healers, and bless the means used for my cure. Give me such confidence in the power of your grace, that even when I am afraid, I may put my whole trust in you.”
