Method Man, one of the most well-known and respected names in the rap game, is taking on a new challenge in his career, action acting.

The Wu-Tang Clan member has revealed that he will be appearing in an upcoming action film, and he is excited to show off his skills and physique in the role.

On Sunday night, while on the red carpet at the Grammy’s, he said, “I’m in a movie with Kerry Washington and Omar Sy and Da’Vine Joy. She’s dope. She’s fire. It’s tentatively titled Shadowforce, done by the people that did Smoking Aces, and Kerry’s kicking ass, Omar’s kicking ass, Da’Vine is kicking my ass. It’s dope.”

Although he has appeared in many films over the years, the 51-year-old is excited for the film industry to cast him in action flicks and take him more seriously.

He appeared in the motion pictures Belly, How High, Garden State as well as a minor role in The Wackness.

On television, he had a recurring role as Calvin “Cheese” Wagstaff on the acclaimed HBO drama series The Wire

Excited about his new action-packed role, he added, “I want to show off this body.”

Later Sunday night, Method Man performed on the Grammy stage along with others to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

Among some of the tributes artists were Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Run-DMC, Lil Wayne, Big Boi, Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, Salt-N-Pepa, Spinderella and Busta Rhymes.

Following his appearance at the Grammy’s, Method Man also spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the significance of the hip-hop anniversary.

“I think we gave a voice to a lot of people that were voiceless,” he said.

“We basically were the ghetto news reporters for lack of a better word. And we we took a culture that people thought wouldn’t last and turned it into a multibillion-dollar business. The purpose of the music is universal. It brings people together no matter what ethnicity, what creed, what gender. And music means love.”
