Rapper Chief Keef Performs At BET Awards A Decade After The Network Allegedly Banned Him

BET lifted its alleged ban on rapper Chief Keef, who performed on the BET Awards stage Sunday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Chief Keef took the stage and performed “Faneto” alongside the Ying Yang Twins, Bobby Shmurda and Kid Capri to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop.

BET never released an official statement or reason for Chief Keef’s ban in 2013, nor did they confirm. However, the rapper took to Twitter in 2014, claiming the network banned him for declining to make an appearance on 106 & Park

“…banned me a long time ago [because] I didn’t attend 106 [because] I ain’t f**kin’ feel like it!” The tweet read.

In 2016, Chief Keef explained that BET warned he would be banned

if he didn’t appear on the 106 & Park show, and the rapper didn’t take kindly to the threat.

“They didn’t say f**k me. They only said if you don’t come to 106 & Park, well will ban you. I said ok, f**k y’all, I got MTV,” he tweeted.

In 2013, the rapper slammed the network in a video after failing to appear on 106 & Park, which most likely contributed to the alleged ban.

“Man, f**k BET Awards! I’mma let y’all know right now. If we go to the BET Awards, chains gettin’ took, b*tches gettin’ f*cked. Baby mama’s gettin’ f*cked, still pregnant. All of that,” he said in the video.
