In a legal battle that’s grabbing the attention of celebrity gossip enthusiasts and legal aficionados alike, R&B sensation R. Kelly has fired a shot against the U.S. government, prison authorities, and YouTube personality Tasha K. It’s a legal showdown that’s making waves and raising eyebrows.
The Lawsuit Unveiled
According to TMZ and a 28-page complaint filed with the U.S. District Court in Chicago, R. Kelly alleges that his private information was unlawfully accessed and shared. The lawsuit claims that dozens of Bureau of Prisons (BOP) officers accessed R. Kelly’s sensitive and confidential information, including email correspondence, phone calls, and guest visits. What’s more, a former prison officer, identified as Officer A, is accused of emailing some of these records to herself before providing them to Tasha K, whose YouTube channel “UnWinewithTashaK” boasts over 1 million subscribers.
Tasha K’s Alleged Role
Tasha K, who previously faced a defamation lawsuit from Cardi B in 2022, is accused of rallying her massive following to harass R. Kelly using the stolen information, causing chaos in his personal life. She posted phone call information, visitor logs, and email communications on her YouTube channel, titling one video “R. Kelly Can’t Control His Girlfriends While Behind Bars.” R. Kelly’s legal team claims that these actions have significantly impacted his ability to communicate with others, even his own lawyers, as he no longer feels comfortable sharing information due to the breach.

The Fallout and Seeking Justice
R. Kelly’s attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, expressed the artist’s right to expect privacy and protection of his information by the BOP. Unfortunately, certain BOP officers allegedly exploited this trust, leading to the lawsuit. The Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General’s “secret” investigation reportedly found that at least 60 BOP officers had made unauthorized access to R. Kelly’s information.
The lawsuit seeks justice for R. Kelly, as the Department of Justice’s investigation did not result in charges against those involved in the alleged misconduct. The Bonjean Law Group, representing R. Kelly, emphasized the necessity of this lawsuit in the absence of official action.
R. Kelly, once a pillar in the Black community, now stands as a convicted sex offender, serving more than 30 years in prison for charges including sex trafficking, child pornography, and racketeering. His convictions came after years of activism led by Black women, documentaries, and social media campaigns.
In this ongoing saga, R. Kelly’s fight for privacy and justice has become a captivating chapter in the ever-evolving world of celebrity legal battles.
