‘Quentin Tarantino Says Kanye West Did Not Pitch ‘Django’ For The ‘Gold Digger’ Music Video

Filmmaker and actor Quentin Tarantino shutdown rapper Kanye “Ye” West’s alleged claims about the rapper introducing the idea for Tarantino’s 2012 film Django Unchained to him.

“There’s not truth to the idea that Kanye West came up with the idea of Django and then he told it to me, and I go, ‘Hey, wow, that’s a really great idea, let me take Kanye’s idea and make Django Unchained

out of it.’ OK. That didn’t happen,” Tarantino explained to Jimmy Kimmel Live host.

“I had the idea for Django for a while before I ever met Kanye,” Tarantino stated.

The director explained that Ye wanted to do a “giant movie version” of his 2004 album “College Dropout.”

“So, he wanted to get big directors to do different tracks from the album and then like release it as this like giant movie…not videos.”

Ye and Tarantino began meeting to discuss the “Gold Digger” music video, in which the rapper shared an idea that involved him as a slave.

“The whole thing was the slave narrative where he’s a slave and he’s singing ‘Gold Digger’ and it was very funny…idea,” the filmmaker said.

He continued, “It was meant to be ironic. It’s like a huge musical…no expense is spared…with him in this slave rag outfit doing everything and that was also to be part of the pushback on it. But I wish he had done it, it sounded really cool. Anyway, that’s what he’s referring to.”

There’s no correlation between the “Gold Digger” music video and Django, except for Jamie Foxx.

Piers Morgan had controversial rapper Ye on his Uncensored show, where the “Stronger” lyricist asserted that he pitched Django Unchained to Tarantino and the film’s star Jamie Foxx as an idea for the 2005 hit “Gold Digger” music video.

From making false claims about George Floyd’s death to his antisemitic comments, Ye is on a fast downward spiral.
