Power Book II: Ghost has been renewed for a third season after a record-breaking season two premiere on the Starz streaming network.
Production for the upcoming series is set to begin the third installment in early 2022.
Season two finds Tariq St. Patrick, played by Michael Rainey Jr., continuing to run away from his legacy. His father, James “Ghost” St. Patrick, is dead, and his mom, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), is facing charges for his murder, even though Tariq is the one who killed him, according to Variety.
According to the official show description, “Power Book II: Ghost picks up shortly after the earth-shattering events of Power as Tariq St. Patrick grapples with a new world order.”
Brett Mahoney will be the showrunner for the third season and is set to executive produce the show alongside Courtney A. Kemp, 50 Cent with G-Unit Film and Television, Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM and Chris Selak.
Geary McLeod will serve as the supervising producer and direct the season’s first episode.
“The continued success and cultural resonance of the Power Universe are unprecedented, and fans are clearly still hungry for more Power Book II: Ghost,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO at STARZ. “We’re excited for the third season of the star-studded series to get into production early next year just ahead of the debut Power Book IV: Force, the fourth installment in the rapidly expanding franchise.”
Power Book II: Ghost is the first series as part of the continuation of the Power franchise. The second season features an extensive cast including Mary J. Blige, Method Man, Paige Hurd, Larenz Tate, Woody McClain, Daniel Bellomy, Melanie Liburd, Lovell Adams-Gray, Daniel Sunjata, and Paton Ashbrook.
The show’s second season premiere ranked as number one in cable telecast among Black households and the top-ranked premium telecast in all homes after its debut on Sunday, November 21.
