Poet Amanda Gorman Is Estée Lauder’s New Ambassador

Poet Amanda Gorman has entered a three-year partnership with cosmetic powerhouse Estée Lauder.

Gorman, who skyrocketed to fame as the youngest inaugural poet in US history, has been named the company’s first Global Changemaker. She will appear in the companies campaign in the spring of 2022.

Gorman became the youngest poet to recite her work during the presidential inauguration when Joe Biden took the oath as the 46th president of the United States on Jan. 20, 2021. At 22, she recited a poem titled “The Hill We Climb,” which talked about the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol during Trump’s final days in office.

As a part of Gorman’s partnership with the beauty brand, the Estée Lauder companies will contribute over $3 million over the next three years to support Writing Change, an initiative to advance literacy as a pathway to equality.

Gorman’s partnership was announced in an Instagram post from Estée Lauder.

Estée Lauder’s chief executive Fabrizio Freda told Women’s Wear Daily, “Amanda embodies a new generation and demonstrates the importance and influence of voice. As a company, we are committed to nurturing the leaders and talent of the future, empowering them to use their voices — and to use them loudly.”

Jane Hertzmark Hudis, executive group president of Estée Lauder Cosmetics, said,

“Our company was founded by an extraordinary woman, Estée Lauder, who paved the way for women everywhere to believe anything is possible. Our first-of-its-kind partnership with Amanda was created under these very same trailblazing ideals.”

In a statement, Amanda responded, “I am honored to partner with the Estée Lauder Companies to activate change through literacy and to represent a brand founded by such an inspiring and daring woman.”
