Pinky Cole Kicks Off Jet Magazine’s Revival As Cover Star

Jet magazine, a beloved staple in the Black community, has made a triumphant return to print after nearly nine years.

The iconic publication, which was founded in 1951 as “the weekly Negro news magazine,” was a ubiquitous presence in Black hair salons, barbershops, and on coffee tables in Black households. Now, Jet magazine has returned with Pinky Cole, CEO and founder of the vegan burger chain Slutty Vegan, gracing its cover as the iconic “Beauty of the Week.”

Cole, who is known for popularizing vegan meals in the Black community, shares her journey of building a $100 million-dollar vegan empire, redefining the American Dream, influencing culture, and advocating for Black entrepreneurs through the Pinky Cole Foundation in this special collector’s issue of Jet. For Cole, being on the cover of Jet is a personal and special moment, as the magazine helped shape who she wanted to become and who she is now.

“I am so thrilled to be featured on the cover of Jet!” said Cole in a press release. “Ever since I was a little girl, I grew up reading every inch of every issue that I could get my hands on. Now here I am on the cover and as their iconic ‘Beauty of the Week.’ This moment is so personal and special to me because, in many ways, Jet helped shape who I wanted to become and who I am now.”

Cole shared the cover on Instagram on Monday writing, “The last printed issue of JET magazine was in 2014, until me. 🥰 This is one of THEE most iconic publications of our time, and I am honored and humbled to be the poster girl for this historic symbolism of black excellence! The collectors edition is available in select retailers nationwide while supplies last! Thank you @getjetmag.”
