At a concert held on September 26, singers Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight paid tribute to deceased Labelle group member Sarah Dash at the Stockbridge Amphitheater in Georgia.
According to Black Enterprise, Patti mentioned that Gladys allowed her to get through tough times after losing their fellow group member during their performance that night. Patti said Gladys has helped grieve throughout the loss of her friend and “several other family members,” she’s lost as well.
“Gladys has been in the back with me praying. I was with her when she lost members of the Pips,” she said with a heavy heart and tears in her eyes. “So now we’ve lost a Labelle. God bless Sarah Dash.”
Patti mentioned that the “Love Overboard” singer had been a shoulder for her to lean on.
As previously reported, Sarah passed away on September 20 and left the music world devastated with the tragic loss, especially her fellow group members who treasured her dearly.
After Sarah’s death, Patti took to social media and penned a heart-wrenching message about her late friend.

In a statement on Instagram, Patti said, “We were just on stage together on Saturday, and it was such a powerful and special moment. Sarah Dash was an awesomely talented, beautiful, and loving soul who blessed my life and the lives of so many others in more ways than I can say. And I could always count on her to have my back! That’s who Sarah was…a loyal friend and a voice for those who didn’t have one.”
