‘P Valley’ Star J. Alphonse Nicholson Reacts To Plies Saying He Was “Traumatized” By Show

P Valley star J. Alphonse Nicholson recently responded to Florida rapper Plies’ tweets about being “traumatized” by the hit Starz show.

Nicholson, who portrays Lil Murda on P Valley addressed Plies’ comments during an interview with XONecole.

“This video of Plies is going viral. Plies talking about how he was traumatized from the show,” the actor said. “It’s interesting because he knew every character’s name, knew exactly what they said, and so you wonder, are people traumatized? Are you confused? Or are you just scared to kinda accept maybe who you are or those who those who are around you are?”

The rapper previously took to his Twitter account on Aug. 17 to reveal that he was extremely uncomfortable with the intimate gay sex scenes on P Valley–notably between Lil Murda and Uncle Clifford. He said he only tuned into the Starz show because lots of people were talking about it but quickly realized it was too much for him.

“Where does that fear come from? Where does the confusion come from? You know? That’s kinda—I’m glad that these sex scenes have started those conversations,” Nicholson said. He added that there’s “ignorance” out there in the world, but it can spark constructive conversations.

In addition to Plies, fellow Florida-native Lil Duval also voiced how uncomfortable he felt about P Valley‘s sex scenes as well.

“Yea P Valley lost me. They need a super gay advisory on movies like they got for everything else. Cuz That’s a lot to see if u not [used] to it,” he tweeted on June 29.

Back in March, Nicholson opened up about becoming Lil Murda on the show.

“When you sit in things that are familiar and honest, you become truthful about the story,” he told Broccoli City TV. “As an actor, you have to tap into the things you are familiar with,” and he did what he would do with any other character.

P Valley‘s season two finale aired on Aug. 14.
