Singer Omarion warned fans to be cautious on the internet during a recent episode of Dr. Phil, where a fan of his discovered she was catfished after believing they were engaged.

Dr. Phil‘s season 21, episode 111, featured a woman named Simone, who was brought on the show by a concerned friend for believing the person she was dating online was B2K member Omarion.

Simone explained that it all started in October 2020 after Omarion posted on Facebook. She responded to the post and said he responded, telling her to inbox him.

Simone received a message from Omarion’s “manager,” asking if she wanted to join his fan club for $300. Simone paid, thinking she was joining the “Ice Box” singer’s fan club, but never received anything. 

The fake manager also told the Bronx mother that meeting him would cost $3,000. 

The catfish told her he had bought Simone a bracelet and wanted her to pay the shipping and handling fee. When the mother of three told the catfish she couldn’t bear the shipping and handling, the two ended up “falling out.”

Even though the two have never met, the Omarion catfish asked Simone to marry him, and she said, “Yes.”

Since the two met online, Simone has sent the scammer about $4,500.

Simone told Dr. Phil she was on the show to see if she was communicating with a catfish. Dr. Phil said she didn’t need him to tell her she was being scammed since everything the scammer asked for didn’t seem like an Omarion thing, especially since he’s a millionaire.

Dr. Phil played a video message from Omarion confirming Simone hadn’t been talking to him. He also warned his fans about the dangers that lurk online.

“It’s crazy how far these people will go to convince and manipulate my fans to think that they are actually speaking with me,” Omarion said, referring to the scammers and catfish. “From sending fake driver’s licenses and passports, even FaceTiming them, claiming that there was a bad connection when they never even seen me. I’m so sorry, Simone. I haven’t been speaking with you online, and we are not in a relationship. You haven’t sent me any money.”

He continued, “I want everyone to be aware that if someone is online claiming to be me and asking for money…you are not speaking with me. I will never do that. All of my official pages are clearly marked with a blue check. I don’t have any backup pages. Okay? I ain’t going to be lurking online. I have one fan texting number, and that is 844-888-8726. When time permits, I sent positive messages. I am passionate about all of my supporters, so please be careful and mindful about who you are speaking with online.”
