The Last OG’s Janet Hubert dropped gems on the Will Smith slapping Chris Rock incident, recalled an interaction with the veteran comedy and even shared her own hit list of people she’d like to put her hands on but didn’t.
The 66-year-old Chicago beauty posted a video to her Instagram page that kept it real.
“Yesterday is just that…MOVE ON…be careful who you come for…I bite😛and I will not apologize,” she wrote in the caption.
She started the sermon by greeting her followers with a “Good morning.”
Then, Mother Janet said her peace to naysayers and critics of Smith.
“Some of y’all need to stop coming for people on the Instagram page and on their Twitter page and whatever, talking that kind of smack you wanna talk, thinking we ain’t gonna smack back. Sometimes you get smacked back. And Will Smith is a grown-ass man, and I am an old-ass grown woman. And he ain’t gonna tell me what to say. I ain’t kissin’ nobody’s ass, but I will kick it. So some y’all need to understand, sometimes you go too far.”
“And just like Will said, we bleed, we hurt from some of the things you sayin’, and you think we supposed to take it. No, we are not. Now, there’ve been quite a few people that I’ve wanted to smack, but I didn’t because if I probably coulda, I would if I coulda,” the talented artist then ran off her list of celebs she would’ve given smackdown to.” Let’s see Wendy [Williams], Kevin Frazier, Michael Yo, Tamron Hall, quite a few. But I chose to do it verbally. So some of y’all need to stay in your lane and stop telling us what to do.”
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the veteran actress also stated plainly that both Rock and Smith were wrong as she congratulated her former TV nephew on his first Oscar. Janet even revealed that she didn’t particularly care for the New Jack City actor calling him “mean-spirited.” She also opined that Rock has a history of denigrating Black women.
“So PROUD OF YOU! Yes, there is only so much one can take…sometimes, you have to slap back. Celebrate the win…nothing else matters. Both actions were incorrect, but Chris didn’t need to go there. Met him once… it was enough for me…very mean-spirited.”
“I cannot tell you how many times I have wanted to slap the mess out of so many folks who have disrespected me. Will stood up for his wife. Chris Rock is always disrespecting Black women. Mean-spirited hides behind comedy. BULL.”
OG Aunt Viv’s commentary went viral, and Black Twitter went up for the outspoken queen.

In November, Smith honored the 66-year-old woman during his “Will Smith: An Evening of Stories with Friends” event in Brooklyn. She and former co-star Karyn Parsons were there to support the actor’s latest project. The pair had buried the hatchet on a 30-year beef after Smith finally took accountability for blackballing the actress.
Whether we decide to call her OG Aunt Viv or Mother Janet, the actress is the embodiment of an apologetic Black woman. We stan.
