Award-winning rapper, singer, and songwriter Nicki Minaj told fans that she was “happy to be sober” via Twitter.
“I’m sober & loving life,” she responded to a follower who asked if she was “high” on Apr. 21.

A few minutes later, Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, followed up her tweet, saying she used to be happy while she was high.
“I used to b happy when I was high. Now I’m happy when I’m sober. No judgment to anyone. Be gentle with yourself.”

She then said that people always assumed she was high because her natural eyes made her appear that way.
“My eyes naturally look like that, and ppl always think I’m high when I’m not wearing makeup,” Maraj tweeted. She continued, joking that her real eyes were actually gray and she was from Cuba.

Another fan responded with a post asking if she was under the influence when a particular photo was taken of her.

The Queens native recently dropped the video for her latest song titled “We Go Up,” featuring Brooklyn drill rapper Fivio Foreign on Apr. 19. She has also been active on social media, dropping multiple Instagram reels, TikTok videos, and behind-the-scenes footage clips of “We Go Up.”

Some fans have speculated that she referred to Cardi B in one of the song’s bars.
“Get you a vacuum, bitches is messy, let’s see. After all of that surgery, you are still ugly, now that is what gets me.”
However, Maraj did not clarify or give a hint as to who she was talking about.
She made her latest television appearance on British comedian and TV personality James Corden’s popular segment, Carpool Karaoke, on Apr. 7.
