Nick Cannon apologized to the mothers of his seven children for causing them pain with the announcement of his eighth child, his first with real estate agent Bre Tiesi.
During the Feb. 3 episode of his talk show, Nick Cannon, Cannon apologized. He announced he was having his eighth child with Bre Tiesi on the show days earlier and quickly faced backlash.
Critics questioned the timing of the pregnancy, and the entertainer noted his failure to protect and respect the privacy of the mothers, including Alyssa Scott, whose 5-month-old son with Cannon passed away in December.
“I misspoke and probably went too much into detail on Monday expressing my feelings,” said Cannon. “And it probably felt like I was making some comparatives when talking about the passing of my son Zen and then also talking about the new child I’m expecting. I didn’t need to do that because those are two completely separate moments in my life and they both deserve the respect.”
Cannon went on to say he would try to improve how he discussed sensitive situations and noted the timing did not matter.
“I know it seems awkward because people are trying to do the timing and all that … none of that matters. We lost a child and it still is a sincere and real situation,” said Cannon. “I love her, I love my son Zen, and I always will. And I’m gonna love my new child. I’m a responsible human being and I take full responsibility for everything so I must say I sincerely apologize to everyone involved for any extra pain or confusion that I may have caused.”
Tiesi is the ex-wife of professional football player Johnny Manziel. The two divorced in 2021. The 30-year-old ex-model was married to the former Cleveland Brown quarterback for four years. Cannon and Tiesi are expecting a baby boy.
