America’s Next Top Model alum Yaya DaCosta has secured a starring role in Fox’s new drama series Our Kind Of People.
Based on a book by Lawrence Otis Graham, Deadline reported that the show, set to premiere this fall, will feature actors Morris Chestnut and Lance Gross and center around DaCosta’s character, Angela Vaughn, a single mother and hair care entrepreneur who finds out a life-changing secret.

The Butler and The United States Vs. Billie Holiday Lee Daniels will serve as executive producer on the show, continuing his years-long relationship with the Fox network. Karen Gist will also reportedly be an executive producer on the series, known for her work as showrunner of Mixed-ish.Viewers can also catch L. Scott Caldwell, Rhyon Nicole Brown, Joe Morgan, Alana Bright, Nadine Ellis, Kyle Bary and Debbi Morgan on the drama, Deadline reported. According to the outlet, Tyler Perry collaborator and Why Did I Get Married? star Tasha Smith will be directing the first episode of the show.

No stranger to the entertainment industry, model-actress DaCosta has previously worked on shows Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Ugly Betty, and Whitney, a biopic film centered around the “How Will I Know” songstress’ life and career.
