Netflix Drops Trailer for Highly-Anticipated All-Black Western ‘The Harder They Fall’

Netflix dropped the trailer for the highly anticipated western The Harder They Fall featuring Regina King and an all-star cast of Black cowboys and cowgirls.

The trailer for The Harder They Fall started with King’s character “Treacherous” Trudy Smith perched on a horse in the middle of train tracks.

When a train approaches and the white conductor gets off to berate

Smith, she puts a bullet in his head right when he attempted to call her the n-word. Co-star LaKeith Stanfield, portraying Cherokee Bill, walks up and jokes about the conductor’s last words.

“He might could’ve said nincompoop,” Bill said.

“We ain’t no nincompoops,” Smith replied.

Once the pair is on the train, they walk up and free Rufus Buck, portrayed by Idris Elba. Once he’s free, they execute all of the white men who were guarding his traveling cell.

The rest of the trailer showed off a star-studded cast including Jonathan Major, Zazie Beets and Delroy Lindo.

The trailer was well-received on social media.

“I’d watch Idris Elba and Regina King read a telephone book,” admitted one viewer. “Then y’all had the nerve to add Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz & Lakeith Stanfield too. “I’m sold off the cast alone.

The Harder They Fall is the directorial debut of Jeymes Samuel, a singer-songwriter known as The Bullitts in the United Kingdom, reported People Magazine. Rapper Jay Z, who worked with Samuel on The Great Gatsby soundrack, executive produced the movie. Samuel and Hov will also produce original music for The Harder They Fall

.

“Working with Jay is like breathing. It’s literally just like breathing,” Samuels told Shadow and Act. “He’s a really great collaborator. He really believes in collaboration and bringing everything together.

Netflix has not announced the movie’s release date.
