Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Nene Leakes has dropped her discrimination lawsuit against Bravo, TV host Andy Cohen, NBC Universal and other parties.
According to Page Six, court documents have revealed that Leakes filed to dismiss the case “without prejudice” on Aug. 19. She has the ability to reopen it at a later date if she chooses to do so.
“All parties consent and stipulate to the foregoing dismissal,” the document indicated. “No party will seek recovery of costs or attorneys’ fees in any submission to this Court.”
The former RHOA star initially filed a lawsuit against TV host Andy Cohen, Bravo, the network’s parent company NBC Universal, and the production company True Entertainment, among others, back in April. In the suit, she claimed that they helped to “foster a corporate and workplace culture in which racially-insensitive and inappropriate behavior is tolerated — if not, encouraged.” She also claimed that her former costar and friend Kim Zolciak-Biermann made racist remarks for years, but only the 54-year-old suffered consequences for allegedly informing Bravo executives about it.
Leakes additionally alleged after the filing, she was “blacklisted” for speaking up, which she said prevented her from booking other entertainment jobs.
Two months later, in June, she was reported to have been in negotiations with Bravo, Cohen, and NBC Universal to possibly settle their case outside of court. The defendants reportedly argued that there was a stipulation in one of their contract agreements and, therefore, any disputes between them were “subject to arbitration” in New York.
The recent motion indicated that, at the time, Leakes “disagreed” with the idea of arbitration, but both parties were “in the process of negotiating this issue in an attempt to avoid the time and expense of a motion to compel arbitration” via their legal representatives.
Leakes was part of RHOA since it debuted on Bravo in 2008. She had a lengthy and successful run on the show as she officially left the series after its 12th season 12 years later in 2020. Her memorable role made her a pop culture figure, spawning memes, quotes, catchphrases, and even parodies.
