Reality star Nene Leakes’ son, Brentt, caused an online uproar after partaking in a TikTok challenge that seemed like he was coming out. However, Leakes quickly cleared

the confusion, maintaining that her son wasn’t gay while on The Breakfast Club.

Brentt posted a video on his TikTok of him trying the “If I Miss, I’m Gay” challenge, where people attempt to throw something in a trash bin and miss, supposedly indicating that they’re gay.

Many users were shocked and couldn’t help but wonder if the video was Brentt coming out. According to The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, friends and family blew up her and her son’s phone, asking the same questions fans asked.

“So, my son hit the vlogs this weekend,” Leakes began. “Everybody was hitting me up—I was out of town—and I get all these text messages, ‘Oh, my God, Brentt came out, he’s gay,” Leakes explained. “I was like, ‘he is?!’”

When asked if she wasn’t aware he son was gay, she clarified that Brentt wasn’t gay and that it was just a TikTok trend.

After being asked if it wasn’t true, the reality star said, “Not to [her] knowledge.”

“He called me up and was like, ‘Mom, everybody is asking if I’m gay because I did this TikTok thing,’” she explained. “And I said, ‘It’s OK if you are gay. It’s fine with me.”

He then told her that he wasn’t gay. Leakes said that if he were, she wouldn’t mind it as long as he was happy.

“I don’t need to ask him, ‘Are you gay?’ What I like to say to people is…’ Whatever makes you happy.’ If my son today says he’s gay, I’m 100 percent OK with it,” Leakes said.

After going viral, Brent took to his Instagram story to clarify that he’s not gay and that it was all for TikTok.
