Nas’ Daughter, Destiney Jones, Debuts Matic Cosmetics Makeup Line

According to Ebony, Destiney Jones, the daughter of rapper Nas, has launched a cosmetics line called Matic Cosmetics. The cosmetics line is an expansion on a lipgloss line she began in 2014.

Jones has been passionate about makeup since she was a young girl. She had a lipstick kit and loved to make lipsticks for all of her friends. She began her organic lip gloss line LipMatic in 2014 after mixing glosses to find her preferred color and texture. The successful line is sold at Sephora.

All of the names of Jones’ cosmetics products are inspired by hip-hop artists and references to New York. She has one lip gloss called Manhattan Mocha, and her Ex-Factor Lipshine is named after the song by Lauryn Hill.

The 27-year-old described her new cosmetics line as being a brand that represents her culture and style.

“Matic Cosmetics customers are what I would consider the ‘around the way girl,'” she said. “Whether she is glamorous or more into streetwear fashion, she wears anything from high heels to Timberland [boots].”

“She cares about the health properties in her beauty products and [wants] a brand that represents her culture and style.”

The lipgloss boss described her creative process and noted that she drew the artwork for her cosmetics line’s products and the packaging. Jones said she would often have a great idea in a flash and put cosmetic looks in her head to create a new product.

Jones told Ebony that she was inspired by young Black women and wants to serve as a role model for the next generation. Her advice for other entrepreneurs is to pursue something they already love and would do for nothing.
