Bianca Ojukwu, the widow of the late Biafran leader Odumegwu Ojukwu, released a video of her altercation with the former First Lady of Anambra state Ebelechukwu Obiano. They attended Governor Charles Soludo’s swearing-in ceremony in Nigeria last month.
According to the Premium Times, Ojukwu took to Facebook on Monday and shared the video on her official page, writing “Zero Tolerance For Executive Bullies. The Raw Facts” in the caption.
“ZERO TOLERANCE FOR EXECUTIVE BULLIES…THE RAW FACTS. The Alder Code says,” she began.
Ojukwu allegedly wasn’t a supporter of Governor Obiano’s administration while in office for eight years.
She posted to her Facebook page hours before Governor Soludo’s inauguration, writing, “It’s liberation day, and today we sing the redemption song.”
Ojukwu’s statement indicated that she was pleased that Obiano’s term was ending.
In the 54-second video, Obiano stood up from her seat, walked over to where Ojukwu was seated and shoved her shoulder.
Ojukwu responded by taking a swing at Obiano’s head as several men proceeded to break up the fight.
The footage captured Obiano as she mocked Ojukwu, saying, “I thought you said we would never be governor.”
Since the incident occurred, Governor Soludo has apologized for the altercation between the two women.
Ojukwu issued a statement explaining that she slapped Obiano because the former first lady attacked her and used “unprintable vile language” against her, Arise News Television reported.
Obiano’s media aid, Chidiebele Obika, said the former first lady was shocked after Ojukwu slapped her.
In the statement, Obiano said she and the former beauty queen usually have minor banters whenever they get together. However, she didn’t expect to be “slapped” and pushed by Ojukwu.
On March 31, Obiano apologized to Ojukwu as she prepared to run for the Anambra North Senatorial District election.
After the incident went viral, Twitter users expressed their opinions on the altercation between Obiano and Ojukwu.
“So someone started filming it the moment Madam stood up as if he/she already knew what was going to happen,” one user said.
Another user said, “Which self-control? Does what happened there calls for physical confrontation? She should have ignored her.”
“All the fights that has happened in the house of rep kwanu? Na women fight those ones?” a third user said.
Though the incident happened last month, one user said the video did not capture Obiano slapping Ojukwu.
“Ebele is too low class. But there was no slap as it was first widely circulated. How could Bianca let such oppourtunity to slide? Biko, who can help me with the translation of what Ebele said?” the user said.
