Mother Of Nipsey Hussle’s Daughter Wants Full Custody

Late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s ex-girlfriend Tanisha Foster has filed to regain custody of their 13-year-old daughter Emani Asghedom.

The teenager resides with Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, and other family members.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Foster objects to the current guardianship settlement.

In her legal filing, Foster reportedly mentioned that she had a “loving relationship” with the rapper at the time of his tragic demise, which existed since the birth of their daughter in 2008. During his lifetime, the two of them shared custody, and Hussle was the primary source of financial support for them, including housing, food, and other “living expenses.”

On March 31, 2019, Nipsey Hussle was shot to death in the parking lot of his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles. His brother Samiel Asghedom was appointed the permanent administrator of his estate.

Nipsey’s murder was a sudden “shock and tragedy” for Foster and their daughter. During this time, Foster allowed the rapper’s family guardianship of Emani.

“Tanisha’s motivation for doing so was in recognition of her own financial limitations; her desire to maintain the standard of living and family contact the minor had experienced with the paternal family prior to her father’s death; and upon the verbal assurances that each of them would act in the best interests of Emani,” the document states.

However, Foster has claimed that the Asghedom family allegedly started “withholding financial assistance and reducing visitation” shortly after entering the agreement by using their “financial position and influence” to disregard their priorities and control their desires. She asked the court to allow a “neutral experience financial planner” to be in charge of her daughter’s inheritance from her father.

She has also alleged that Hussle’s family have “frequently demonstrated their disdain for Emani’s mother” and shown favor to Lauren London, the mother of the rapper’s other child.

She says that her daughter’s legal guardians have also stopped communicating with her and have blocked her on their phones.

“I am very unhappy that the guardians will not take my calls. They have blocked me on their cell phones. I have to go through a third party or Emani to communicate with the guardians.”

Foster says that her daughter no longer requires guardianship of her paternal family and requested the court to end the existing arrangement:

“There are no circumstances or events in my life that would disqualify me for regaining my exclusive role as Emani’s parent. There is no longer any need for guardianship. Emani routinely asks me when are she and I going to be able to live together. She longs to be with me as her mother. I am begging the court to terminate the existing guardianship.”

The Asghedom family is set to appear in court on March 25.
