Missy Elliott’s Legacy Cements Her Place In History As The First Woman Of Hip-Hop To Enter Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Missy Elliott is now the first-ever female hip-hop artist to get inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, made up of over 1,000 artists, music historians, and industry professionals, voted to include Elliott in the 2023 class alongside legends such as Chaka Khan, DJ Kool Herc, and Soul Train creator and host Don Cornelius.

On Wednesday, Missy shared a tweet expressing her gratitude for the honor and thanked her fans, peers, and industry professionals for their support.

She acknowledged the overwhelming amount of tweets she had received, writing “If I miss some of yalls tweets please forgive me it’s a lot to see but I do want to say Thank You to my Fans (Supafriends) my Peers/Radio/Djs/Bloggers & again @rockhall! I am Thankful!”

The 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on November 3 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The event promises to be a celebration of the groundbreaking achievements of Missy Elliott and her fellow inductees. It will be an opportunity to honor their legacies and influence on music and culture, as well as to inspire the next generation of artists to push boundaries and break barriers.

Missy’s groundbreaking achievements have made her a true pathbreaker in a male-dominated genre and have paved the way for future generations of artists.
