Miriam Olajide showed off her Black Girl Magic and puzzle-solving skills during her June 8 appearance on Wheel of Fortune, winning $22,000 in cash and prizes.

Olajide is a junior on a full-ride scholarship at Spelman College – a historically black women’s liberal arts college in Atlanta, GA – majoring in Health Sciences. Wheel of Fortune fan and has been awaiting the opportunity to participate since her first year of college.

“I began my journey to appear on Wheel of Fortune in my first year of college. I was watching the show and saw an advertisement for the chance to audition virtually from home. Since I had been a longtime fan of the show, I decided to give it a try,” The longtime fan said.

After capturing the show producer’s attention with her one-minute video, she was chosen for a further virtual audition. She described being “ecstatic that I was one step closer to possibly going on one of my favorite game shows.”

It took only three weeks for them to contact her once more and confirm her spot as a contestant on the show to be featured in the coveted college student-centered episode. Her presence on the show was nothing short of genuine and bright to the audience. The brilliant junior showed her sparkling personality as she racked up her winnings to $22,000 with a bright smile. 

Olijade, who enjoyed seeing the behind-the-scenes production, summed up her experience, “I was very excited! I was afforded an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles, California and my experience on Wheel of Fortune was nothing but amazing! All the college contestants, as well as the ones that I competed against, were nice, and we all bonded over our love of the show.” 

“Nonetheless, filming and getting the opportunity to compete as a contestant, as well as represent Spelman College, was an unforgettable part of my college experience that I am forever grateful to have been given,” She reflected after returning to Spelman.
