Mike Epps’ Airport Scandal: Loaded Gun Found In His Luggage

Comedian Mike Epps is in hot water after being caught with a loaded handgun at Indianapolis International Airport.

According to a report by WRTV, On March 5, police officers at the airport responded to a firearms investigation at a security checkpoint, as it was suspected that a possible firearm might be inside a backpack.

Following this, airport officials reported that police officers found a .38 Special Airweight revolver inside Epps’ backpack, loaded with four rounds of Hornady .38 special ammo, with the spot in the cylinder with the firing pin empty.

The officers confiscated the weapon, and Epps explained that he was in town for a show at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and had forgotten that he had the handgun inside his bag.

The comedian was in Indianapolis for his “Straight Jokers! No Chaser Comedy Tour” at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, along with other comedians such as Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley, Earthquake, and D.C. Young Fly.

Although the Next Friday actor had not been arrested in connection to the incident, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the incident is under investigation, and they will determine if any charges will be filed against the comedian.

The charge that could be filed is “Entering a Controlled Access Area of the Airport While Possessing a Firearm.”

Epps is also facing a potential federal fine, potentially for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

According to TSA regional spokesperson Jessica Mayle, “the fine can vary whether it’s loaded or unloaded. And then the other issue is, you know, is this your first offense? Have you done this before? We say, ‘Is it artfully concealed?’ Were you trying to hide it from us? Or was it just in the bottom of your bag? So we take all those factors into account when determining what the fine is going to be.”
