Trina and her family are devastated after the unexpected shooting death of her 17-year-old niece in Miami late Tuesday night.

TMZ reported that sources close to the Miami rapper revealed Toni Chester, affectionately known as Baby Suga, was visiting the city when she and two other women were tragically struck by gunfire at a place Chester’s relatives identified as the “wrong place at the wrong time.”

Another source reported that the high school senior was walking to an apartment building from the corner store when two bullets struck her.

Chester is the only person who succumbed to her injuries.

Trina and her niece appeared to be close. A 2017 Instagram post by the Miami rapper highlighted Trina’s love for the teen.

One Twitter user posted alleged video footage of the crime scene with Trina and rapper Trick Daddy.

Condolences poured out to Trina from fans on Twitter. 

 

Love & Hip Hop Miami cast member and cousin to both Trina and Chester, Bobbi Lytes, also expressed his devastation over losing the teen’s death to gun violence.

Lytes wrote, “Heaven couldn’t wait for you. I’m so sorry, my baby cousin. You were always suppose to be the most protected. You were always the princess. Everyone who knows you knows how talented you are. You were the next big thing when it came to rap. You were going to take over the world. I’m so sorry this happened; I’m so so sorry!”

 “I can’t stop crying, and I’m angry. You had your whole life ahead of you. I’m going to hold on to the memories we created, the time we did spend together. I’m going to always remember Big Suga,” he continued. “Even as I write this, I’m at a lost for words. I don’t know what more to say, except we are all going to miss you, but your energy I can still feel! Fly high and find any way you can each day to show us you are still with us, ❤️ until meet again 🙏🏽”
