Method Man Explains Why Wu-Tang Clan Once Smacked Joe Budden For Talking Sh*t

Method Man recently revealed why the Wu-Tang Clan smacked fire from rapper and media personality Joe Budden for talking sh*t and starting “beef.”

Meth, whose real name is Clifford Smith Jr., explained the confrontation between Joe and the Wu on an episode of rapper Math Hoffa’s podcast, My Expert Opinion. The conflict dated back to 2009, when Wu-Tang member Raekwon, whose real name is Corey Woods’, goon smacked the Jersey native in California on behalf of Method. At the time, Joe insisted that he was a better rapper than the ’90s legend and criticized him for his place in Vibe Magazine’s best rappers of all-time list.

“N****s think I had a problem with Joe Budden saying he’s better than me,” Method Man said. “I ain’t got no problem, you supposed to feel that way. My problem was everything after that. I’m like Joe, ‘I don’t f**k with nobody, leave me alone.’ This is me being my introverted self.”

He further explained that he spoke to Joe privately, telling him that he didn’t need to start beef to pave his way in the music industry, but the “Pump It Up” rapper refused to listen. Eventually, Raekwon caught him lacking at a Rock The Bells concert on the West Coast and smacked him silly.

“They were in Cali I believe. I wasn’t there,” Method recalled. “They walked in their dressing, which wasn’t locked, and somebody got smacked in the motherf*cking face. He got smacked. He didn’t get punched. But the n****a who hit him hands are so big. Like, he [does] this. We put hands on n****s. It looked worse than it really was. He just got smacked. And, if anything, he already got a warning shot when I told him, hey look n***a, just chill out. Stop it. You a talented motherf*cker you don’t need to go that route.”

Joe then appeared in a Vlog going into detail about the incident while holding ice on his face.

Raekwon even spoke out about the beef in an episode of Vlad TV back in 2013.

The 41-year-old has not publicly commented on Method Man’s recollection.
