Love & Hip Hop NY star Mendeecees Harris was granted permission from a federal judge to travel for his upcoming nuptials to Yandy Smith. Per TMZ, Mendeecees is on probation until 2025 after a five-year stint in jail for drug trafficking.

Mendeecees was released on January 29, 2020, under supervised release, and his probation officer said that he has been compliant and recommended he be granted permission to travel for the wedding later this month.

The couple had a 2015 wedding which aired on Love & Hip Hop NY, but it turns out that the couple weren’t legally married.

“I do not have a contractually binded agreement with the government between my husband and I. But me, Mendeecees and God, we absolutely have an agreement,” said Yandy.

“I didn’t send off the paperwork. We signed it. Our officiant signed it. I never sent it off,” she added.

Yandy said that she wanted to protect her finances and family while Mendeecees went to prison.

“Every single dime I make goes in the bank, and would be damned before I let somebody tell me this money that I worked for is going back for a crime that I didn’t commit,” she concluded.

 

During an episode of VH1 Couple’s Retreat, the couple discussed surviving Mendeecees’ time in jail. Yandy noted that she felt like when he was in jail, she was in jail, too.

Yandy asked Mendeecees if he would have done the same for her if she’d been the one locked up. “If the roles were reversed, would you hold me down?”

“I don’t know,” said Mendeecees.

He later clarified the comment on Instagram after being dragged on social media by saying, “you don’t know what you’ll do until you are in that situation and they become your circumstances and you figure it out.”

He did, however, post a Mother’s Day message for Yandy on Instagram on Sunday.

“Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful Queen.. seem just like yesterday watching u figure out parenthood to now u moving with grace doing it in your sleep & effortlessly.. so proud of you @yandysmith 😘 u remember when u were treating that puppy like a child and compared him to Lil mendc and I was so mad at you?!! You came along way and everyday I enjoy watching u… I love u and enjoy today!😬.”
