Maury Povich’s dramatic daytime talk show is ending after over three decades.
According to Deadline, Povich’s syndicated talk show Maury will wrap up its original production after this season. The announcement comes after 30 seasons on the air and more than 3,600 episodes.
The final new episodes of Maury will air in September 2022. After that, previous episodes will continue to air in syndication.
Povich’s show first hit the air in 1991 under The Maury Povich Show. In 1998, the show was re-titled Maury and subsequently acquired by NBC.

Povich told Variety he was ready to retire six years ago but carried on producing the show “out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members.”
Tracie Wilson, executive vice president of NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, said, “Maury and I decided two years ago that this season would be the farewell season for the show, and while his retirement is bittersweet, we are so happy for him to be able to spend more time on the golf course. Maury is a television icon, a pop-culture legend, and we couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of his incredible career.”
Of course, this farewell is bittersweet to fans who grew up watching the show, and Twitter could not keep quiet.

This is not the first series that NBCUniversal has recently canceled. The network pulled the plug on Nick Cannon’s talk show and The Good Dish earlier this year. Another daytime series, Judge Jerry, is also set to go off the air in September after being canceled following three seasons.
