Veteran comedian and actor Marlon Wayans recently encouraged veteran actress Nia Long to work it out with her fiancé, Ime Udoka, amid the cheating scandal.

Marlon shared his controversial advice for Nia regarding the scandal via an episode of Leah’s Lemonade podcast. During the episode, he suggested that the actress stays with Udoka despite the public humiliation his alleged infidelity has caused.

“If that man is 90% of everything that you need and want and he’s missing 10%, and you throw that man away, that’s your fault,” Wayans told host Leah Henry on Oct. 1. “In order to find [a forever love], you’re going to have to live in a way that it bends and it doesn’t break. That’s your best friend…And I would say to Nia Long: if [Udoka’s] all of those things, never mind the embarrassment. Never mind all that. I would say it to my daughter. I would say it to my sister. Are you happy? Before this moment, were you happy? Right — so work on your relationship. He’s a good man… He provides [and] he’s there for you. You seem so happy when y’all are together.”

As Sis2Sis reported, Udoka allegedly had an “intimate relationship” with a female Celtics employee. Although it was reportedly described as consensual, the unidentified staffer accused him of making “unwanted comments towards her.” The Celtics conducted several interviews and decided to suspend

the 47-year-old for the 2022-2023 NBA season due to “violations of team policies.”

In response to the cheating scandal, Wayans added that if a woman has a “dope dude” in her life who makes her happy, she shouldn’t end their relationship over cheating.

“‘I like him, the family likes him, he has all these great qualities,'” he said, mimicking a woman’s thought process about a good man in her life. “But because he slept with another woman, she probably thinks the same things [about him] that you’re thinking. He’s a dope dude. Why would you throw a dope dude away for her to have him?”

The Manhattan native continued, saying women are taught that relationships are a fairytale but that “people are human.”

“We live in a society where women are taught that things are a fairytale,” he explained. “Prince Charming comes right in on a white horse, kisses Cinderella, and then it’s happily ever after. That’s the imagery we have…People are human. You have to love people like water. We’re not solid objects. Love is not a solid object. You have so many men — married men — [who] have these thirsts or have these extramarital affairs because they’re not being honest with themselves and transparent with their partner.”
