Mariah Carey Corrects Interviewer Who Called Nick Cannon’s Youngest Kids Her Twins’ “Step” Siblings

Promoting her newly-released Christmas apparel and upcoming Apple TV+ special, Mariah Carey recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight to discuss a few life updates. On whether the “All I Want For Christmas Is You” songstress, who shares two kids with ex-husband Nick Cannon, would be spending the holidays with their “stepbrothers or stepsisters,” Carey quickly chimed in to let the interviewer know that “step” doesn’t exactly apply here.

Carey has 10-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan by the famed television host, whom she was married to from 2008 until 2016. During the 10-minute interview with ET,

host Kevin Frazier asked her, “Will any of their stepbrothers or stepsisters ever get to enjoy Christmas your way? Because it’s a special way.”

Reminding him that neither she nor her ex-husband is currently married, Carey replied, “Is it step? I don’t think it’s step if you’re not married to the person. I don’t know about that. That’s a different interview for you.”

Cannon, who’s gained a recent reputation for being fruitful, has welcomed four kids in the past year alone. Model Brittany Bell gave birth to their daughter, Powerful Queen, in December 2020, their second child after having son Golden in 2017.

As Sister 2 Sister previously reported, the Love Don’t Cost A Thing actor also fathered another set of twins with Abby De La Rosa, Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, born in June 2021. Zen, Cannon’s youngest child whom he shares with Wild’N Out model Alyssa Scott, was delivered the following month, bringing his total number of children to seven.

Touching on his multiple kids and baby mothers in a sit-down with The Breakfast Club, the 41-year-old stated in August, “But why do people question that? That’s a eurocentric concept when you think about it. The ideas of like, you’re supposed to have this one person for the rest of your life, and really that’s just to classify property,” adding, “I don’t have ownership over any of the mothers. We create families…we created a beautiful entity.”

Showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, the Masked Singer host responded to Saweetie’s “I want some babies” tweet earlier this month with a series of emojis, including one with its hand raised in the air. Several days later, Cannon addressed the online exchange on his new talk show, playfully teasing, “I just replied with some emojis,” also saying, “It was all in fun, no disrespect.”
