Making The Band alum Chopper was arrested on April 14 in Maryland and will be extradited to Las Vegas to face felony sex trafficking charges.
According to TMZ, the 35-year-old man, born Kevin Barnes, a Nevada undercover police officer posing as a sex worker, stated Chopper initiated contact with the woman via direct message on Instagram to inquire about her making money as a prostitute. The vice cop also discovered several Instagram posts by Chopper suggesting that he was a “pimp” along with images of his extravagant lifestyle.
One photo showed the former reality star on a private plane with the caption, “Sending ’em,” with a money bag and crown emoji. Documents obtained by TMZ revealed that the Las Vegas authorities launched an investigation after finding evidence of an alleged prostitution ring.
The undercover cop also stated that Chopper called her on the phone boasting about his lavish lifestyle, including how much he traveled and that he owned a home in Las Vegas and six others. The 35-year-old man disclosed that they needed to be careful as Las Vegas police were cracking down on sex trafficking operations during a call. His Instagram account has since been deleted.
He reportedly gave the decoy an interview and advised her that she had passed a test. The undercover cop detailed that Chopper told her that she would become a part of his “team” and that she would be added to his “stable.”
According to the vice detective, Chopper told the woman to pack her bags, head to the airport and meet him in Charlotte, North Carolina. In order to not blow her cover, the detective maintained that she stalled the Making The Band alum by telling him that she was scared to leave her house. Chopper apparently wasn’t trying to hear that and became angry, allegedly demanding that she head to the airport. She also claimed that he ordered her to pay a $2,000 fee.
Based on all the evidence, police determined there was cause to charge him with felony sex trafficking.
Chopper appeared on MTV’s hit series Making The Band from 2002 to 2004. The New Orleans native was considered one of the show’s antagonists. The show was the brainchild of super-producer Sean “Diddy” Combs.
