Luptia Nyong’o Stops Press Run For New Film After Testing Positive for COVID-19

The actress says she will be isolating to get better.

Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19.

Nyong’o announced her diagnosis on Twitter and said that she would be doing some isolating.

“I, too, have tested positive for COVID-19,” she tweeted. “I’m fully vaccinated and taking care in isolation, so I trust I will be well.”

She also encourages others to protect themselves from catching and spreading COVID-19 at all costs saying,

“Please do all you can to keep yourself and others protected from serious illness.” The actress added, “#StayMaskedAndVaxxed.”

Due to catching COVID, Lupita Nyong’o is forced to stop promoting her upcoming film, 355, Variety reported. She was doing a press run when it unexpectedly crept up on her.

355 is set to release this Friday. According to Variety, Nyong’o plays a former M16 ally and computer specialist named Khadija. Khadija joins forces with other female top agents to save the world. At least, that’s the gist of it.

Nyong’o recently interviewed with Latin publication Hola! where she discussed her favorite thing about playing Khadija.

“My favorite thing about her is also the thing that I’m most intimidated by, which is her intellect and her ability to understand computer jargon in a way that I never could,” she said. “That was very hard for me to wrap my head around and also my tongue, it’s like a different language these people speak, and so to do so, and to do it with confidence and to utter those things, like I had always uttered them- it took me about three or four times as long to learn my lines then it usually takes me.”

The actress was scheduled to do multiple other virtual interviews with costars Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Fan Bingbing, and Penelope Cruz, among others. However, things didn’t go as planned.
