‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s’ Tammy Rivera Accuses CVS Employee of Racial Profiling

Tammy Rivera, the wife of rapper Waka Flocka, alleged that she faced discrimination and was racially profiled at a CVS in Georgia on Sunday.

The reality TV star detailed what happened to her at the CVS pharmacy in DeKalb County on her Instagram account. Rivera claimed an employee clocked her every move as she shopped in the national drugstore. As she perused the aisles, Rivera stated that the overzealous employee screamed at her after Rivera opened a product that she planned to buy.

The Love & Hip Hop Atlanta alum also alleged that the incident intensified when the clerk tried to boot her from the CVS.

The police were called to the scene. Rather than face trespassing charges, Rivera went home.

“I’m disgusted by the lack of customer service, the disrespect, and the racist profiling I experienced,” she said on Instagram.

Rivera went on to say that she originally went into the store to buy hydrocortisone to soothe the itching from mosquito bites she got while vacationing in Belize. She continued saying that she browsed the store and had picked up a couple of other items, including a bonnet.

That’s when things went left.

The following day, Rivera contacted the CVS’ general manager to lodge a formal complaint against the out-of-order clerk. On October 25, the store leader returned her phone call and issued an apology.

Waka’s wife maintained that she doesn’t want the racist employee terminated, but wanted to ensure that all CVS customers are “treated with respect and are offered courteous service.”

Rivera expressed that if the profiling happened to her– she’s sure other Black and Latino customers have been subjected to the same treatment.

CVS is investigating the incident and stated the company has a “firm non-discriminatory policy.”
