A clip of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s Erica Mena showed the reality star reacting happily to her attorney’s news of her divorce being final and having primary custody. The happy moment turned bittersweet once the mother of two found out ex-husband Safaree Samuels isn’t required to pay child support.
“I will always believe in love. Love is real… but I’m gonna take time to love on me and pour on me.” ❤️🩹

The episode aired on Nov. 7 and captured Mena celebrating the end of her over two-year marriage (Mena and Samuels tied the knot in 2019) by hugging those close to her while on the phone with her attorney.
“Oh my god, I’m officially divorced,” she said.
However, the excitement died down once Mena discovered that she was given not only primary custody of her two children but also financially responsible for them—Samuel isn’t required to pay child support.
“I’m officially primarily custodian of the kids,” she announced to the friends around her. “What about the child support? That’s it… that’s crazy! Why? Are you f**king kidding me? Now all of this financial burden of my children is on me? It’s not fair.”
The clip cut to Mena’s confessional, where she warned viewers to believe it when someone showed their true colors.
“When a man shows you who he is, you have to believe him,” she advised. “When anybody shows you who they are y,ou have to believe them.”
She continued, “That’s the f**ked up s**t that comes with being a woman that is so ride or die about love. Ladies and gentlemen, learn your partner before you jump ahead and fall in love with the words and all of that stuff that make up the fairytale because when no one is looking, that’s when everything goes left.”
Mena shared the news with her Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta castmates Bambi and Sierra Gates, along with her mother, who was disappointed with the ruling.
Despite the news, Mena affirmed that it doesn’t stop her from believing in love and that she would use the new chapter of her life to love herself.
Samuels responded to the Love & Hip Hop clip, commenting, “Whoever runs this page, stop spreading false information. We have joint custody w. Whatre you talking about? Losers.”

Sis2Sis has previously reported that Samuels had to pay Mena a monthly $4,305 in child support. It’s possible that the episode was filmed in September since that’s when Mena’s divorce was finalized.
